President
Stephen W. Greene, RPh

Steve Greene, RPh, is the Manager of Professional and College Relations for CVS.  A graduate of the University of South Carolina,  Steve serves on the Board of Visitors at Campbell University School of Pharmacy, Admissions Committee of Campbell University, National Advisory Council at SC College of Pharmacy USC Campus, and the Board of Advisors with the SC College of Pharmacy MUSC Campus.  Steve works actively with students and young pharmacists and emphasizes the importance of association membership.  Steve has been an active member of SCPhA, serving on various committees and holding numerous leadership positions.  Steve lives in Chesnee, SC, with his wife, Jill, and their children, Caroline and Zachary.

L. Mel Rauton, RPh

Mel Rauton, RPh, is the owner of the Prescription Center, a pharmacy located in downtown Charleston, SC.  A graduate of MUSC, Mel is passionate about the continued growth of independent pharmacy in South Carolina and our country. He lives this through his dedication to the future of pharmacy by educating students of pharmacy, as well as serving his professional associations and community in many capacities. Mel is a member of SCPhA, NCPA, APhA, IACP, Executive Association of Greater Charleston(EAGC), MUSC Alumni Association, CPFI, Phi Lambda Sigma Leadership Society, and the Lowcountry Pharmacy Association (past-president).  He has held Board Positions with SCPhA, CPN, and EAGC.  Mel is highly active in the Ten City Challenge program.  He resides in Mt. Pleasant with his wife, Cindy, and daughters, Melissa(14) and Grace(7). 


President-Elect
Kelly Jones, PharmD, RPh

Kelly Jones is crrently an Associate Professor of Family Medicine with McLeon Health in Florence, SC.  Kelly graduated from MUSC with BS in Pharmacy (1986) and PharmD. (1988) and Fellowship in Family Medicine in 1989. Kelly has been at McLeod since 1989.  Aside from speaking at many local and state events, Kelly has also been active in the association, holding various leadership positions.  Kelly is co-owner of Evidence-Based Solutions, a company which emphasizes in assisting consultant pharmacist with the application of evidence-based medicine to clinical recommendations.  Kelly is the proud father of the "Kelso Bunch" - Amanda, West, Carol, Mason, Hamilton, and Jackson.


Vice President
Don Ray, RPh

Don Ray is currently employed at the  Department of Defense at Moncrief Army Hospital located at Fort Jackson.  Previous professional experience includes 7 years with DHEC serving as the Director of the South Carolina AIDS Drug Assistance Program and Director of Central Pharmacy for DHEC.  Don also has experience in chain and independent pharmacy settings.  Don served as the Chief Pharmacist for the Columbia Free Medical Clinic for a short time. A graduate of the USC College of Pharmacy, Don is a Vested Member of SCPHA.  He has served on numerous committees and the House of Delegates.  Don was named SCPhA Volunteer of the year in 2004.  Don served on the South Carolina HIV/AIDS Council Board of Directors in 2005.  He is a life member of the USC Alumni Association and Chairman of the USC College of Pharmacy Spring Fundraiser for several years.  Don has been a volunteer at the Columbia Free Medical Clinic for the past 10 years.  He attends Riverland Hills Baptist Church where he serves as secretary of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. Don is also a member of The University Club where he plays golf regularly.

Joe D. Newton, RPh

Joe Newton is the Coordinator of Outpatient Pharmacy Services and the Medical University of South Carolina.  A graduate of the University of South Carolina, Joe has been active in both the profession and his community.  Joe was a member of the Rho Chi Honorary Pharmacy Society in 1966.   He served as Chairman of the Public Works Committee and the Chairman of Health and Human Services for the York County Council.  He has served on the Board for the Rock Hill YMCA and the Rock Hill United Way.  Joe has also held leadership positions with the Low Country Pharmaceutical Association and has held several positions with SCPhA.  Joe lives in Charleston with his wife, Nancy Baker Newton, and their two daughters, Dr. Jennifer Sterrett (a pharmacist) and Lesslie Ann Fites (occupational therapist).

Thomas R. Phillips, RPh

Thomas "Tom" Phillips is a Pharmacy Supervisor for 25 CVS/pharmacy stores in the Columbia, SC area.  Tom is a graduate of the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy.  He has worked with CVS for 24 years, holding many different positions including pharmacist, PIC, Pharmacist Trainer, District Manager, Pharmacy Supervisor, and CE Presenter.  Tom has been extremely active within SCPhA, serving in many different leadership capacities.  He has also served on several membership committees.  Tom is the President of the 5th District Pharmacy Association and a member of SCACDS where we also holds leadership positions.  Tom lives with his wife, Donna, in Chapin, SC.  They have 6 children with ages ranging from 14 to 21.

Terry Blackmon, RPh

Terry is a pharmacist at the Medicine Cabinet in Lake City, SC. A graduate of MUSC (1980), Terry currently serves on the Carolina Pharmacy Network Board of Directors. Terry has been a Pee Dee Region Delegate since 2000. Terry is a Vested member of the South Carolina Pharmacy Association and is also a member of NCPA. Terry is a Past President and Treasurer of the Pee Dee Pharmacy Association.


Pee Dee Region Director
Spencer Morris, PharmD, RPh

A 2000 graduate of USC, Spencer is currently a successful speaker with Southeastern Continuing Medical Education Consultants, LLC, of Winyah Pharmacy Solutions and Georgetown Hospital System in Georgetown, SC. Spencer has been active in professional organizations for several years, including the South Carolina Society of Health System Pharmacists, American College of Clinical Pharmacy, American Pharmacists Association, and the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine. Spencer is currently completing a clinical pharmacy specialty residency and becoming a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist. He is also forming his own continuing education company and providing programs on a local and regional level.


Upstate Region Director
Maribeth Kowalski, PharmD, RPh

Maribeth Brune Kowalski, BS, PharmD, received her BS in Pharmacy and her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of South Carolina, Columbia. Maribeth completed a specialized Pain Management pharmacy residency program at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute in Tampa, Florida. Following her residency, Maribeth worked as an oncology pharmacist at Moffitt and also worked as a clinical pharmacist at Applied Health Outcomes. Maribeth is currently a Regional Medical Scientist with Elan Pharmaceuticals and is also serving as the Chair of the Regulatory and Advocacy Committee of the South Carolina Pain Initiative. Maribeth and her family (husband Paul, children Ryan (8 years) and Anne (4 years) reside in West Union, South Carolina.


Midlands Region Director
Sarah Braga, PharmD, RPh

Sarah Fowler Braga currently serves as the Pharmacy Manager for Coram/Carolina Home Therapeutics in Columbia, SC.  Sarah is a graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina.  Sarah has worked in a variety of pharmacy settings, including retail and long term care.   Over her career, Sarah has given many presentations across the country and in South Carolina.  She currently serves as a faculty advisor for APhA- Academy of Students of Pharmacy, College of Pharmacy at the SC College of Pharmacy USC Campus.  As a member of SCPhA, Sarah has been active in the association holding many leadership roles.  Sarah has served as a member of the SC Board of Pharmacy Compounding Task Force Committee since March 2004.  Sarah has also been featured on numerous radio and TV news programs. 


Low Country Region Director
C. Wayne Weart, PharmD, RPh

Dr. Wayne Weart is a Professor with the Department of Pharmacy Practice in the SC College of Pharmacy, as well as a Professor of Family Medicine in the College of Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina. Prior to his teaching at the Medical University, Dr. Weart taught at West Virginia University, in pharmacy and family medicine. Dr. Weart received his Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy in 1971 from the University of Georgia and three years later received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science. Dr. Weart has been active in the association for several years, holding leadership positions and serving on committees.  Dr. Weart is also an acclaimed speaker.  He has received numerous awards from his profession including the Bowl of Hygeia Award.


Executive Vice President
Carmelo Cinqueonce, MBA

Carmelo Cinqueonce was appointed Executive Vice President for the South Carolina Pharmacy Association (SCPhA) in June of 2006.  Prior to joining SCPhA, Carmelo served as Executive Vice President and Lead Lobbyist for the Massachusetts Pharmacists Association (MPhA). Carmelo holds a B.A. in Corporate Communications and an M.B.A. from the University of MassachusettsBoston, College of Management. Carmelo is an active member of the American Society of Association Executives, the South Carolina Society of Association Executives, and the National Center for Non-Profit Boards.  Carmelo serves as Treasurer for the National Alliance of State Pharmacy Associations (NASPA) and as a Board Member for NASPA-PQC (a subsidiary of NASPA).  Carmelo also serves on the Board of Directors for CommuniCare.
